Tesla incentives in 2026
An overview of incentives that may reduce the cost of a Tesla product or add benefits. Rules change often and depend on your location, income, utility, delivery date, and the exact vehicle. Treat this page as a starting point, not a guarantee.
Federal EV tax credit
The federal Clean Vehicle Credit for new electric vehicles ended for vehicles acquired after September 30, 2025. That means a new Tesla delivered in 2026 generally should not be assumed to qualify for the former $7,500 federal new EV tax credit.
If you signed a binding purchase contract before the deadline, purchased a used vehicle, are buying for business use, or have a special tax situation, check the latest IRS guidance and speak with a qualified tax professional before relying on any credit.
State, local, and utility incentives
Some states, cities, air districts, and electric utilities may still offer EV-related incentives. These can include rebates, tax credits, sales-tax exemptions, HOV-lane benefits, discounted charging rates, charger-installation rebates, or managed-charging bill credits.
Availability varies by location and often changes during the year. Some programs have income limits, funding caps, eligible-model rules, application deadlines, or requirements to apply before purchase or installation.
Before ordering, check:
- • Tesla's current incentives page
- • Your state energy office or DMV
- • Your local utility's EV programs
- • Any city, county, or air-district incentive pages

Home charging incentives
Some utilities offer rebates or discounted rates for installing or using a Level 2 home charger.
The federal Alternative Fuel Vehicle Refueling Property Credit may also help with eligible home charging equipment in qualifying locations, subject to federal rules, address eligibility, and timing requirements. Confirm eligibility before relying on it.
Referral benefit
Already planning to order?
A Tesla referral link may provide a separate Tesla referral benefit, depending on Tesla's current program rules, eligible products, and your market. Referral benefits are separate from government tax credits, state rebates, and utility incentives.
Using a referral link does not create or preserve eligibility for a tax credit or rebate. Always confirm current Tesla referral terms before ordering.
What this page does not promise
- • That any specific Tesla model or trim qualifies for any government incentive
- • That the former $7,500 federal new EV tax credit is available for a 2026 delivery
- • That a state, local, or utility program is active or funded when you order
- • That your income, address, filing status, or utility account will qualify
- • That any incentive can be combined with a Tesla referral benefit
- • That this page is tax, legal, or financial advice
Confirm all incentives with Tesla, the IRS, FuelEconomy.gov, your state or local program administrator, your utility, and a qualified tax professional before purchase.
