Tesla referral vs loyalty benefits
Tesla runs different programs for new buyers and existing owners. They often get confused. Here is a plain-English breakdown.
Referral benefit (new buyers)
A referral benefit is for someone placing their first Tesla order through an existing owner's referral link. Tesla defines the current benefit and eligibility. The link must be used before checkout.
Loyalty benefit (existing owners)
A loyalty benefit is a separate program Tesla has occasionally offered to existing owners buying an additional vehicle or product. It is not the same as a referral and is not triggered by clicking a referral link.
Which applies to you?
- • Never owned a Tesla and ordering a new vehicle or Solar: the referral benefit is the one to look at
- • Already own a Tesla and buying another: check whether any loyalty benefit is currently active on Tesla's site
- • Someone in your household has a Tesla but the account is yours: check Tesla's terms; existing accounts with a prior vehicle usually do not qualify for the referral benefit
Can you stack them?
Referral and loyalty are separate programs with their own terms. Whether they combine on any given order is up to Tesla's current policy. Do not assume they stack.
