- Pick model, trim, wheels, and paint. Decide on FSD trial vs buy.
- Line up financing and (if applicable) a trade-in quote.
- Check state and utility incentives that still apply in 2026.
- Get home charging installed (or scheduled) before delivery.

1. Configuration decisions
Lock in the choices you cannot easily change after delivery.
2. Financing and trade-in
Compare Tesla financing to a credit union before you accept a quote. Trade-in offers from Tesla are convenient but not always highest.
3. Incentives (federal, state, utility)
The federal new EV tax credit ended for vehicles acquired after Sept 30, 2025. State and utility programs still matter and have their own deadlines.
4. Home charging plan
Decide where and how you'll charge before delivery day, not after. A NEMA 14-50 outlet or a Wall Connector installed ahead of time saves weeks of Supercharger runs.
5. Referral link (the last step before Order)
Click the referral link on the device you'll order from, right before you tap Order. Any current benefit attaches to your Tesla account automatically. Tesla controls eligibility and can change or end benefits at any time.
6. Delivery day inspection
You have limited time to flag issues at delivery. Bring a printed inspection checklist.
